The expression “the last days” refer to the entire time from the departure of Jesus from the earth after His resurrection from the grave until His return to the earth when He returns to establish His kingdom on earth for a thousand years. To understand the events during the last seven years prior to His return, it is necessary to be familiar with the prophecy of the 70th week of Daniel. It is recorded in Daniel 9:24-27. In summary, the prophecy states that there would come to pass a period of 69 weeks of years from the departure of the Jews from Babylon until their Messiah would appear. Each week represents seven prophetic years of 360 days each. Because they rejected Jesus when He appeared, the prophecy was paused. The last week or final seven years would be fulfilled on the earth seven years prior to the return of their Messiah. This period of seven years is the tribulation period described in Revelation.
The tribulation period will be divided into two halves of 3.5 years each. The event that falls at the midpoint of the tribulation is called the Abomination of Desolation. Jesus spoke of it during His Mt. Olives Discourse recorded in Matthew 24:15. Daniel spoke of it in Daniel 12:11. It was revealed to Daniel that 1290 days would elapse between the Abomination of Desolation and the return of their Messiah. Since the tribulation ends 1260 days after the Abomination of Desolation, there is a 30-day period between the end of tribulation and the return of Jesus. The importance of the Abomination of Desolation is emphasized by Matthew in verse 15 by adding the phrase (whoso readeth, let him understand). These were not the words of Jesus.
Can we determine when the 70th week of Daniel will come to pass? I think so. In Matthew 24:31-34 Jesus taught His disciples a parable about the rebirth of Israel. That rebirth occurred in 1948 when the world leaders recognized Israel as a sovereign nation again. Jesus told them that the generation that saw the rebirth of Israel would also see the fulfillment of the tribulation. To determine the length of that generation in years, we look to Psalm 90:10. Moses wrote that a generation is between 70 and 80 years. From that prospective, the tribulation would be completed on or before 2028.
There is another way to determine when the seven-year tribulation will occur. Paul told the Colossian Christians that they could learn about Christ by understanding what the Jewish festivals represent. Christ literally fulfilled the three Spring festivals on the very days the Jews observed them. Since the Spring festivals teach us about His first coming, I believe the Fall festivals teach us about His second coming. Events of the tribulation will be fulfilled at the three Fall festivals. These are the beginning of the tribulation, the Abomination of Desolation, and the Day of Atonement which will be fulfilled at the second coming of Christ to the earth to establish His kingdom.
In the past several weeks I have discovered some amazing information which I must share. From Trumpets 2020 until the Day of Atonement 2027, 2550 days will pass. From Trumpets 2020 to Passover 2024, 1260 days will pass and from Passover 2024 till Day of Atonement 2027 1290 days will pass. As stated previously, the Day of Atonement comes 30 days after the end of the tribulation. This seven-year cycle of festivals matches exactly the tribulation period. You can’t make this up. No other seven -year cycle of festivals matches this template of time. Is this a coincidence? You decide.
